Customer Service/Data Entry $9 per hour!!! [13 May 2011|06:22am]

Is anyone looking for some part-time work?

I'm hiring a bunch of people for customer service/data entry positions.

You will be helping one of our clients distribute government-sponsored cell phones at various community events and the best part is that there's no selling: You'll be sitting at a table and those who qualify for the phones will come to you!

The position will pay $9 per hour but it will only be from Wednesday, May 18th until Monday, May 23rd. I will need everyone who applies for the job to be available through those dates. Any takers?

Please call (504) 821-0772 if you have any questions OR you can come apply in-person with 2 forms of I.D. — most people use a drivers license and social security card — at:

2929 Tulane Avenue
New Orleans, LA 70119

Found cat in Metairie [22 Sep 2010|09:48pm]

Found cat in Metairie. I am pretty sure he's a lost housecat: young, clean (mostly), fat, friendly, trying to get in the house. Please email if you have an idea who he might belong to.

Two Bedrooms for Rent [06 Jul 2010|02:38pm]

My tenant, a really great guy, needs to fill two bedrooms in his house in the Bywater beginning in August.

1st bedroom: the double parlour, approx. 12' x 30', with a huge, old, ornate plaster archway in the middle. This room has sole access to the lovely front balcony as well. This room has been used in several films over the last 30 years for its uniqueness. $650/mo

2nd bedroom: approx. 14' x 14' with a closet. $450/mo

The house: 1880s, about 2000'sq, with a back balcony overlooking the enormous garden: fish pond, hot tub, vegetable patch, little shed, etc.

It's located on Dauphine and Louisa, next to Bywater BBQ, and near Markey's, Country Club, Mimi's, etc. Great neigborhood, as you probably know.

Comment here for contact info. Cheers.

Lestat For Sale [16 Jun 2010|11:22am]

I'm decluttering a storage closet and came across a box set of Anne Rice's The Vampire Lestat issues 1-12 from Innovation comics. The comics were not sealed but are in a nice embossed box. The box has some minor damage but is in otherwise good condition. These books come with a Certificate of Authenticity that they are number 314 of 2000 numbered sets. Included are two issues of The Vampire Companion.

Contact me if interested and a time and place can be set up for a meet and greet w/ potential purchase. Reasoneable offers are considered. Cash only please.

Thank You

2nd nola ladies study group meeting this saturday [02 Mar 2010|11:27pm]

our next meeting will be held March 6,2010 at 1:00 pm at Community Coffee on Veterans blvd by Barnes and noble. If you need a Google map please let us know and we will get you the directions you need.
The topics involved this time will range from basic news of the Linux/Android/open source world, to how to set up a LAMP server for those who would like to learn more. (Linux Apache MySql/PHP) and we will also talk about the Linux distro for our first study will be Ubuntu. On that topic we will go over Gnome and KDE.

One other note our co founder is also avail on here as NOLA witch who has a history of using Linux and is very knowledgeable.

Also we do advise to not bring kids as there is not anything to exciting at a coffee shop for little ones and while we may find Linux friendly little ones may not want to learn about it.

Linux group update cross post frquarter [27 Jan 2010|06:47pm]

For those interested input please:
The Linux group, will meet this month Wednesday Feb 3, 2010 at 6:00 pm at PJ's coffee house on Mounes in Harahan, LA. This meeting is a meet and greet (ala intro of who you are and interest in the Linux platform and open source computing.)
After this meeting they will either convene on either the first or third Wednesday of the month, with and end of month Sat meeting for those who wanted to come but could not so they can participate as a few who have contacted me on this have implied interest but weekday schedules do not permit eg school, work (insert reason). This will be done by a vote on which works for the majority, after all this is a group for you guys.

So shoot me a line and let me know what works for you.

attn women interested in technology cross post to french quarter [18 Jan 2010|08:48pm]

Greetings, I am curious as to how many women in the S.E. Louisiana area namely NOLA metro would express interest in a Linux/Unix/BSD discussion group. If interested these meetings would be held on Wednesday nights from 6-8:30 at locations such as: PJ's coffee shoppe on Mounes in Harahan and rotate to other locations such as CC's coffee house veterans to places such as Barnes and noble Veterans or possible weekend meetings in NOLA direct for those who can't get out to the Metairie/ Harahan meetings. Other topics of interest would be along the lines of the Android OS and the direction the Open Source movement is taking.

For those who do not know what Linux is, it is an open source operating system alternative to Windows and Macintosh. For more history on the Operating system some reading while not necessary would be Just for fun the Linus Torvalds story and check out some websites such as Linux.com

If you need more information on these meetings please email me at aaleigha@gmail.com

Said I'm a mean machine, been drinkin' gasoline, and honey you can make my motor run [06 Dec 2009|01:50pm]

[ mood | working ]

Up for sale is my 1998 GSX-R750 SRAD sportbike, $3200 OBO. It's been a great bike- it's a FAST bike- but I want something more suited to riding in city traffic and longer distances with my girlfriend.

That photo was taken before the bike was ridden from Mesa, AZ, to just outside of Chicago, IL. I'll have some more pictures up soon once I find my digital camera.

List o'parts and detailsCollapse )

Slight disclaimer: I would not advise this bike for new riders or for people who do mostly urban commuting- it will get very, very hot in stop-and-go traffic.

I would also consider a trade for a Ducati S4, Triumph Sprint RS, '02-04 Speed Triple, or BMW R1100 or R1150.

housing wanted [17 Nov 2009|02:08pm]
Hey, I'm seriously considering moving back to New Orleans around the first of the year. I'm looking for my own place or a room in someone else's house I can rent. I'm a social work student. I'm planning to spend most of my time studying and volunteering, but I definitely love to hang out on occasion and know how to have a good time. I'm a bit eccentric and if I room with someone I'd prefer they see this as a good thing and not a bad thing. I'd prefer to live in the bywater or mid-city. I'm not really a huge fan of the vibe uptown... or at least I wasn't before I left in '05. I appreciate any input you may have!
